The Boston Celtics: A Curse For Big Men?

The Celtics might have beaten the San Antonio Spurs last night, 107-97, but they lost Nenad Krstic after he sustained a knee injury with 2:19 left to play in the first half. He will undergo an MRI tomorrow to assess the extent of his damages but, according to Doc Rivers, "it doesn't look good". Big Baby will be taking his place on the court.

This injury came in the same game that saw the return of Jermaine O'Neal, who missed 56 games after injuring his left knee on January 10th. Shaquille O'Neal, who has been out for two months nursing an achilles tendon injury, is expected to return as soon as Sunday when the Celtics face the Detroit Pistons at home.

Despite the loss of Krstic, Boston looked strong last night, shooting 61.9% in the second half. They hit 26 of 42 shots. Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett all contributed 60+ points (22, 21 and 20 points, respectively) to the total score. Rondo had 14 assists and Pierce had 11 rebounds on the night.

The Celtics return to action tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. They are within two games of the Chicago Bulls for first place in the East.
